It is with measured, thought out and consumer centric steps that the Keshwala Group of Companies has continued to grow from strength to strength over the years. Spanning three generations, from its original founding father’s first establishment in Jinja, to the current management, our company continues to expand its outreach and service offering to innovate, manufacture and bring a wider product selection to a larger client base year after year.
Using family members’ complementary skill base, the support of professionals and tried and tested methods the organization runs operation spanning from trading, manufacturing, transport and logistics, distribution, imports and exports and fleet management. Our national footprint reaches every corner of the country, our regional presence keeps expanding and leading in the development of new industries.
The original founder, the late Viram Giga Keshwala who came to Uganda in the 1950’s, originally set up a single outlet textile trade business in Jinja, then went on to officially establish the company in 1980, as it gained experience and bankable reputation for guaranteed logistics and distribution. At a later stage Ranmal Viram Keshwala came from India in 1983, to join the family business. In 1997 he stepped in to manage the company with his intuitive vision and through hard work, the company evolved and began offering product distribution services for Nile Breweries Ltd and Crown Beverage Ltd.(Pepsi Ltd). This opened up more business opportunities which led to the setting up of transport and logistics companies.
With passion and vision he picked up on the need to begin manufacturing goods of prime necessity for households that would contribute to economic and industrial development, whilst generating employment opportunities. This brought the creation of our first factory, in partnership, and our flagship brand – Krishna matches, the largest matches on the continent, which generates employment for over 800 staff.
We have gone on to set up manufacturing facilities for a wide range of products with a purpose of making them readily and easily available to meet market needs. We manufacture and distribute our in-house brands through V. G. Keshwala & Sons Ltd, Glorrie industries Ltd, Imperial Steel industries and Mitayimbwa Steel Manufacturers Ltd. We have also gone on to form partnerships and manage distributions for companies such as 3R Agro Industries Ltd, Jinja Packaging Solutions Ltd, Makepasi Match Ltd and Nile Poly Sack Ltd.
